Pole Base Lights Up Culinary Campus Redevelopment in Traverse City

What was once an elementary school is now a hub for community, creativity, and culinary craft. Located in Traverse City, MI, the Long Lake Culinary Campus is home to a sushi restaurant, daycare facility, and several unique agri-businesses - all powered by thoughtful planning and well-lit by seven reliable Pole Base precast light pole bases.

When Tamarack Holdings set out to repurpose the former Long Lake Elementary School, they knew the transformation needed more than just a vision - it needed dependable infrastructure. For proper parking lot lighting, the project’s electrical contractor turned to Pole Base.

THE CHALLENGE

To safely and beautifully light the site, Shoreline Power Services needed a foundation solution that could meet strict lighting standards, without slowing down the pace of construction. Though utilitarian in purpose, the completed light pole bases needed to be aesthetically pleasing and strong enough to withstand Michigan’s four-season climate.

THE SOLUTION

To keep things moving on their terms, Shoreline Power Services installed seven 24-inch round, rusticated Pole Base foundations, each standing 8.5 feet tall. These foundations delivered precisely what the project needed, without delays or surprises:

  • Engineered to spec: Bases were produced to meet the engineer’s exact requirements, including precise conduit placement, rebar construction, and anchor bolt patterns.
  • Ready to install: Delivered to the job site cured and ready to go, allowing for fast, hassle-free light pole base installation.
  • Aesthetic appeal: A decorative bevel and smooth exterior helped meet the project’s visual goals and match light pole fixtures.
  • Built to last: The strength of high-quality precast concrete ensures long-term durability for the site.

THE OUTCOME

Eight years later, the foundations still look and perform like new. With Pole Base, Tamarack Holdings got peace of mind and a long-lasting solution. And thanks to Shoreline Power Services, the site lighting was installed quickly and professionally, leaving the project owner thoroughly impressed.

Whether you're lighting a small site or installing 100+ bases, Pole Base makes every job simpler, faster, and more predictable. This isn’t the only Traverse City project where Pole Base is making an impact. From campus redevelopments to high-traffic downtown spaces, Pole Base keeps showing up where reliability and aesthetics matter most.
