Pole Base Adds Appeal and Functionality to Waterfront Streetscape Renovation

When the bayside city of Petoskey, Michigan renovated a prominent streetscape, Manthei Construction provided the perfect solution with Pole Base precast site lighting foundations.

THE CHALLENGE

A renovation of a prominent streetscape in the small lakeside city of Petoskey, Michigan called for a site lighting solution that would add to the aesthetic of the project. As a key entry point to the resort town’s downtown shopping and dining district, Lewis Street upgrades required a full site lighting upgrade to meet the project’s stringent specifications.

THE SOLUTION

The City of Petoskey chose Pole Base for the streetscape renovation because the precast concrete light pole bases to support the site lights are faster and easier to install than cast-in-place alternatives.

The Lewis Street project utilized eight, 5-foot by 18-inch (1.5 by 0.5 meter) diameter concrete foundations to support their light poles onsite. Delivered pre-fabricated and ready to install, Pole Base further simplified the installation process with custom bolt configurations to mount up to the light poles and conduit to line up with the project trenches.

THE OUTCOME

The Round Rusticated Pole Bases used on the project feature a beveled decorative touch, adding architectural accent to the streetscape’s design.

The reliability and ease of installation of Pole Base products ensured that the project’s specifications and timeline were met precisely. Pole Base’s ‘drag and drop’ simplicity enabled a quick and smooth installation process regardless of weather conditions.
