Developer Picks Custom Precast Lighting Solution for High-End Apartment Complex

Designers were in need of a site lighting solution to complement the cultured stone building exteriors at this upscale apartment complex in Spokane Valley, Washington.

The Homestead apartment complex used 60 Ledgestone texture Pole Bases with a custom stain to match the aesthetics of the development. Products shown: Light Pole Base in Ledgestone texture

THE CHALLENGE

When Diamond Rock Management began building The Homestead apartment complex in Spokane Valley, Washington, they needed a lighting solution that would match the upscale reputation of the community.

This high-end development includes 248 total apartment units, a clubhouse, pool, playground, and four garage buildings.

THE SOLUTION

Pole Base manufacturer Wilbert Precast had the perfect solution: Pole Base precast light pole bases in the Ledgestone texture with a custom stain to match the stone around the buildings.

"The reason we used Pole Base is because it really fit with our design of what we were trying to accomplish," said Tom Riley, Diamond Rock Management Superintendent. The project design included cultured stone building exteriors and extensive landscaping.

Pole Base is an architecturally designed precast concrete foundation for outdoor site lighting, streetscapes, parking lots, and more.

With multiple faces, color options, and customizable finishes, Pole Base offers an aesthetically pleasing solution that stands out in the industry. Since Pole Base is manufactured in a controlled environment to ensure top quality, installation can happen at any time, regardless of weather or site conditions.

The project was constructed in two phases with bases varying in height. The different heights worked around the swails, which are water runoff areas around the parking lot.

Diamond Rock Management also did their own installation. "They were really easy to install; they worked out great," said Tom Riley, Diamond Rock Management Superintendent.

Phase one installation took one week, and each base took approximately 30 minutes total to install.

The bases used for this project contained a standard bolt and conduit pattern, but the texture was stained by hand to match the look of the buildings.

"I just went out after all of the bases were installed on that particular project. I looked at the colors in his wall and matched it as close as I could by hand staining with spray bottles," said Swan.

THE OUTCOME

The project used 60 Ledgestone texture bases that measured 8 feet and 6.5 feet tall and 24 inches in diameter. "When we do higher-end apartment complexes we will definitely be using Pole Base again," said Riley.
